EMOTIONAL BURSTS

I give my take on these prompts following whatever my emotion bursts.

OVERVIEW

1. TULIP

This first piece go through 2 drafts because they did not quite capture what I felt, until I stumbled upon this visualization of the "within." Tulips lie inside tulips. Sub-emotions build one emotion.

2. SMOKE

Happy smokes, somber subject. What a juxtaposition.

3. CLOUD

Why do people romanticize the relationship between the clouds and the earthly grounds? Nature ties their knots, the inevitable. One contains chaos, one contains peace. Have they chosen to be together?

4. HAND

The fun of playing with color speaks my heart. Daughter of a pro-engineering/science family touches acrylic paint tubes and watercolor brushes. Messy paint spots heal.

5. RISE

We see ourselves best high up with a pair of specs. Spontaneity. Bursts of emotions. Dreams. Unconsciousness. Ecstasy. Those are what are high up. We are either urged to or choose to dive into the highs.

6. FALL

Sometimes it is ok to blame the roller skate shoes for our fall. Sometimes it is ok to roller skate within our failure. The fun awaits, unless it's not fun.

7. TREEHOUSE

Do technology and nature serve as a juxtaposition? Tin Woodman has a heart, though not physically so. "The" Tin Woodman in this is longing for "her."

8. CROWN

I behold myself under the crown of matters, upon the crown of my head, chained by my own thoughts, with no escape, and lots of friends. This piece was emotionally heavy and the pose was tricky at the same time. Such a struggle and I'm still not satisfied.

9. THUNDER

Who would associate a pancake dish falling with thunder? Fussing oneself over losing one's food is understandable. Have some sympathy people! JK, I had fun drawing this.

10. FROG

Once upon a day, I wanted to try pixel art. That took a lot of effort in researching. Then, I suddenly wanted to make an animation out of it. So, that is another round of researching on how-to-animate. Hope you can see my whimsical self in this.

11. GOLD

When I think of gold, I think of time. Vietnamese people often say: "Thời gian là vàng, là bạc." People glorify time, yet, blindly underestimate the importance of it throughout their daily lives. Wish they could be more aware of time as when they are playing Fruit Ninja Saga.
